SUTHERLAND, Neb. — Nancy L. Pearson, 61, of Sutherland, passed away Jan. 16, 2020.

Nancy was born Dec. 17, 1958, in Columbus, Neb., to Harold and Beverly (Vakoc) Hecke. She graduated from Columbus High School and subsequently went to work with ESU No. 7. It was in Columbus where Nancy met Phillip Pearson, and the two were later married on April 28, 1979. The couple made their home in Phillip’s hometown of Genoa, Neb., and their union would be blessed with three children, Nathan, Jessie, and Samantha. The couple made their home in McCook for about 12 years before moving to Sutherland in 1996.

An avid master gardener, Nancy loved spending time outside. Her passion for planting, harvesting, and sharing the fruits of the garden gave her such joy. She also enjoyed baking, was an excellent cook, and a voracious reader.

Nancy was always deeply proud of her family and wanted to do as much as possible for them; her grandchildren were especially treasured. She was a long-time member of New Life Church in North Platte, and spent countless hours serving in many different capacities. Her kindness, selflessness, and complete generosity will long be remembered by her family and friends. Nancy had a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Harold, and mother-in-law, Lois.

Survivors include her husband, Phillip Pearson of Sutherland; son, Nathan (Erin) Pearson of Kearney, daughter, Jessie (Ben) Hodges of Jacksonville, Fla., daughter, Samantha Brennan of North Platte; seven grandchildren, Gabriel, Wesley, Eli, Noah, Hannah, Oliver, and Sophia; mother, Bev Hecke of Sutherland; brother, Steve (Chris) Hecke of Lantana, Texas; sister, Kathy DeWispelare of Denver, Colo.; father-in-law, Don Pearson of Genoa; along with many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Nancy’s memory at “Adams Bank and Trust” for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at 10 a.m., at New Life Church in North Platte with Pastor Dave Cumming officiating. No interment of cremains is planned at this time.
