Trojan scores 33 in upset of DC-S Tigers

BENKELMAN, Neb. — The Cambridge Trojans came out firing and never looked back in a 71-64 upset of Class C-2 Top 10 Dundy County-Stratton Thursday evening.

Senior Paxton Ross scored 11 points during the first eight minutes as Cambridge (4-8) outshot DC-S (11-2), 23-18, throughout a wild first eight minutes.

The Trojans took a 41-31 into halftime, then Ross added another 18 of his game-high 33 points to finish this great road win.

Ross made nine two-pointers, nine free throws and two threes for his 33.

Senior Zion Moyer drilled a trio of triples during that open half while totaling 11 points.

Brandon Horwart added seven, Kyle Borland six along with five points each from Deryk Huxoll and Ethan McArthur.

Sophomore Dahlton Wood’s four points helped hold off the talented Tigers, who did outscore Cambridge 17-12 in those final eight minutes.

Senior Michael Frederick’s 24 points topped DC-S with 14 in the second half.

Frederick hit a pair of three-pointers when he wasn’t attacking inside the arc.

Fellow post Keegan Krutsinger contributed another 16 points followed by Lincoln Waters (seven), Cade Lutz (six), Nolan Burrell (four) and Corbin Horner (four).

Both teams prepare for the RPAC tournament which tips off Saturday at Curtis and Maxwell.

Arapahoe 28

Juniors Carter Bose (21 points), Clayton Berry (16) and Brody Yant (11) powered the Southern Valley to its 10th win Thursday.

The Eagles (10-3) will start their quest for a return trip to an RPAC tourney title game.

Reilley Einspahr and Tyler Miller scored seven points apiece for the 2-12 Arapahoe boys.
