Kathy Sue (Karre) Mabile

Feb. 17, 1954 - Jan. 11, 2020

McCOOK, Neb. — Kathy Sue (Karre) Mabile passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at her home in McCook surrounded by her family. She was 65 years old.

Kathy was born on Feb. 17, 1954, at McCook to parents, William Isaac and Anna “LaVerne” (Nitsch) Karre. She was raised in Hayes County on a humble farm, that she always claimed was the “best place with the best parents.” She attended School District 38 and transferred to Hayes Center in the third grade. She graduated with the Class of 1972. While in school she was active in sports, choir, and drama. She was also involved with 4-H, where she learned to decorate cakes that would eventually lead to a profession.

While in high school, Kathy started pen palling with a service man in Germany. They wrote each other for about 18 months when the gentleman decided to come to Hayes Center and meet her. That friendship with John Pierre Mabile would eventually lead to their marriage on May 12, 1973, at Curtis, Neb.

Kathy worked for Multi-View Cable TV for several years until their first child, Tasha, was born. At that time, she made the decision to be a stay at home mom. She later opened a daycare in her home and eventually started decorating cakes for sale, including wedding and birthday. During this time, her second daughter, Trina, was born. She took some time off in 1993 when their youngest child, Luke, was born. Kathy eventually started working at St. Patrick Catholic School cafeteria. She loved the children and making healthy meals for them. She retired in 2011 when she was diagnosed with cancer. Kathy continued to volunteer at the school cafeteria on Mondays, the Pregnancy Health Center on Tuesdays, and helped serve Mass at the nursing home on Wednesdays.

Kathy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Her grandchildren were the loves of her life. Her message to them and the world is to open your hearts and accept the Lord. It was with the help of her Lord that she made it through the difficult times with her cancer. Her request is that you pray, pray, and pray some more and know that every child is a blessing from God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and LaVerne Karre; brother, Lonnie Karre and his son, Kevin; son-in-law, Jason Allen; and mother and father-in-law, Lazzin and Laura Mabile.

She is survived by her wonderful husband, John Mabile of McCook; children and grandchildren, Tasha Allen, mother of Maxwell and Angel, Trina (Charlie) McPherson, parents of Raedin, Eden, Avalyn, Rya, and Ryker, and Luke Mabile (Breezy Ortega), all of McCook; brother, Gordon (Chuck) Karre of Phoenix, Ariz.; in-laws, Ann (Harvey) Landry, Donald (Molly) Mabile, Lonnie (Frannie) Mabile, Edwina (Wesley) Morales, Terrie Mabile, and Josephine St. Germain; cousin “sister” Carolyn (Mike) Brenning of Culbertson, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends.
