Chemical storage unit tops local construction

McCOOK, Neb. — Estimated new construction, mechanical and plumbing, in and outside McCook City limits, finished the year off with a total of $26.2 million.

Fees collected by the city for the year totaled $32,261, according to the City of McCook Building report.

For December, new construction was lead by a new chemical storage unit, estimated at $1.9 million, by Next Generation Inc. at McCook’s Industrial Park. The company distributes and handles agricultural chemicals at its facility.

Total for all new building in December, including plumbing/mechanical, came to $2.1 million in estimated costs.

Projects recorded in December and estimated construction costs are the following (outside city limits is noted with an *):

- commercial, storage unit, $1.9 million

- commercial remodel: exterior doors, $48,000

- two residential remodels single family: install patio doors $2,000; and remodel basement, $2,000

- Schools/public buildings. mobile homes: set down, $25,000*

- signs, commercial: $8,000

- roofing: commercial, $21,620; single family, $4,000

- Plumbing mechanical: single family, $9,646*; commercial, $79,500.
