McCook spikers venture west for two wins
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — A busy six-match weekend featured two McCook Bison victories at the Scottsbluff Invitational last weekend.
“They played well all weekend and did a lot of great things,” coach Audrey Feeney commented. “I was impressed with their overall effort and attitudes all weekend.”
The Bison (7-14 record overall) swept both Torrington, Wyo., and Burns, Wyo.
They battled host Scottsbluff through three sets twice with the Bearcats earning two close wins.
McCook fell short against Ogallala and Rapid City Stevens, S.D. in two sets each.

Bison beat Burns
McCook conquered great pressure with 25-23, 25-23 triumphs.
Junior Harley Cribbs crushed nine kills while the Bison served eight aces.
Sophomores Calina Allen, Addison Randel and junior Elsa Wilcox served two apiece.
Bison beat Blazers
McCook won 25-16 and a 30-28 marathon finale.
Senior Liviya Wier launched eight kills past the Trailblazers and Randel ripped six.
Junior Bree Janousek served two aces.
Sophomore libero Peyton Doucet hustled to 20 digs and junior Tiara Matson delivered 13 assists.
“Tiara Matson had multiple games with a high number of set assists,” Feeney observed.
Bison vs.Bluffs
The first confrontation featured 25-23 wins on both sides before Scottsbluff scored a 25-13 third-set victory.
Wier and Randel clobbered six kills each, many off Matson’s 16 assists.
Doucet made 16 digs besides serving three aces.
The second battle featured two 25-20 Bearcat decisions sandwiched around a 25-23 Bison win.
Wier delivered a Bison-best 12 kills with Cribbs and Randel equally dividing another 12.
Randel made four stuff blocks, Wier totaled 19 digs and Matson set up 24 assists.
“Addison Randel blocked well,” Feeney confirmed.
Bison vs. Ogallala
The Indians fought through a 26-24 opener then downed McCook 25-17.
Doucet served three more aces besides another 16 digs.
Wier drilled five kills.
Bison vs. Stevens
Rapid City prevailed but no other stats were obtained.
