Storm stops MH-C Wolves in Top 10 contest

CHAPPELL, Neb. — A 40-point second quarter powered Six-Man No. 10 Creek Valley past No. 8 Maywood-Hayes Center, 54-34, Friday evening.

The Wolves outscored their hosts, 20-0, in quarter four but trimmed only half of a 54-14 deficit at intermission.

Junior Oakley Hodges’ 127 receiving yards and two TDs led a balanced attack for 4-0 Creek Valley.

Senior Tyler Schleeman gained 105 yards on eight carries with one touchdown to keep the Wolves (2-1) almost within striking range.

Coy Hale was productive, needing only three carries to gain 93 yards and score two more MH-C TDs.

Senior Devon Johnson rumbled five times for 65 yards and another score.

Freshman quarterback Kyler Cox also completed nine passes to five receivers.

Senior Parker Johnston caught two for 32 with Johnson’s two including one touchdown.

Sophomore Jett Sjeklocha caught a 13-yard Cox completion.

Johnston delivered the team-leading 11 tackles. The Wolves host Wilcox-Hildreth Friday.
