Bison, others compete at Wildhorse

GOTHENBURG, Neb. — The Cambridge Trojans outgolfed eight teams and placed fifth overall at Thursday’s always challenging Gothenburg Invite at Wildhorse Golf Course.

Cambridge’s 417 was only five strokes behind Broken Bow (412).

Maria Jauken fired an area-best 95 which was only one stroke from the final tourney medalists.

Lexie Sines shot 96 to also lead the defending district champion Trojans.

Chloe Besler’s 108 ws the next best Cambridge score.

North Platte shot 322 to win another team title ahead of Scottsbluff (342) and Ogallala (351).

McCook fired 475 for 13th place overall.

Senior Kaylie Puckett paced the Bison again with her 104 for 28th place overall.

Hannah Goltl followed at 111 with freshmen Chayse Friehe (129) and Rylie Balderston (131) completing that Bison team total.

Both Dundy County-Stratton and Southwest also played in the tourney although they did not post team totals.

Lauren Bailey’s 116 led the DC-S Tigers and all golfers from both these teams.

Kaylee Guerrero’s 118 was the Southwest low scored while Haylee Springer shot 128 and Calyleigh McConville finished at 129.

Individually, Ogallala’s Harley Hiltibrand was only one over par at 73 to win a great title chase with North Platte’s Bailey Steele (74).

Emkly Kryzanowski of Scottsbluff was third overall as she shot 77.
