McCook football frosh beat Bulldogs, 22-20

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The McCook High freshman football team defeated North Platte, 22-20, with three second-quarter touchdown runs on Tuesday.

Coach Bill Ramsay reported the Bison built a 22-6 halftime lead and then stopped North Platte’s final potential game-tying two-point conversion. Ramsay offered these remarks:

“ Our kids played a tough game that I am sure they will always remember,” he said. “Offensively, we did a nice job of using our speed and getting to the edges, We have to do a much better job of running between the tackles, . Defensively ,we played pretty well causing several fumbles. We did a good job of gang tackling.”

0-6 North Platte 1 yard run, PAT no good

Second quarter

6-6 Jacob Gomez-Wilson 21 yard run, PAT run Dylan Paschall good

14-6 Adam Dugger 1 yard run, PAT pass to Gary Schafer good

22-6 Alex Anthony 3 yard run, Pat run good

Third quarter

22-14 North Platte 7 yard run, PAT run good

Fourth down

22-20 North Platte 45 yard run, PAT run no good.

The McCook freshmen play their first home game against Hershey on Monday at Weiland Field.

Opening kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
