Maywood, Chase schools get grants to replace buses

LINCOLN, Neb. — Chase County and Maywood are among 62 schools to receive rebates from the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy to replace older diesel buses.

Chase County received $40,753 to buy a newer, more energy efficient diesel bus, and Maywood will use $57,000 for a propane-powered bus.

The rebates are funded by fines against Volkswagen for cheating on emission tests.
