McCOOK,, Neb. — No Excuses gym will have its grand opening on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at its location at 208 W. First in McCook.

The public is invited to tour the facility and see demonstrations with staff. Burgers, chips and water will also be served.

Month-to-month memberships are available with no contract, and punch cards for classes will be offered. Other specials will be available at the grand opening.

“I wanted to open a place where you feel comfortable to work on your own fitness journey and be inspired by others,” said owner, Cindy Deuter. In addition to having classes, the gym also has hydraulic exercise equipment. Advantages of this equipment include:

* still raises your metabolism and tones muscles without any cables or adjusting of weights

* doesn’t work with gravity, so participants are forced to work with more controlled movement

* the harder and faster the machine is worked, the more resistance is encountered and more of a workout is achieved.

There is also less chance of injury with hydraulic equipment so it’s excellent for a person returning from injury, Deuter said. Other equipment at the gym includes a treadmill, elliptical, recumbent bike and stretching unit.

Five different kinds of zumba classes will be offered, along with basic yoga. More classes will available in the near future.

Zumba classes will be lead by Colleen Halsey and Kathy Wheelberger, certified instructors. Constance Stone, certified yoga instructor, will lead yoga classes and Haley Hudson, a certified personal trainer, is also on staff.

The instructors are exited about offering their classes at the gym.

“I decided to become a zumba instructor and give everyone a love of dance fitness,” Kathy Wheelberger said. Colleen Halsey, the other certified zumba instructor, said she hated to exercise but loves to dance, so zumba is perfect for those like her.

Battling health and weight issues her whole life, personal trainer Haley Hudson said she’s knows how hard it can be to commit to a healthier way of living. “My journey isn’t over yet but I am here to help and support everyone as they crush their own goals and become the best version of themselves, mentally and physically,” she said.  “At No Excuses, I know you’ll walk in feeling comfortable and walk out feeling confident and I can’t be more excited with what the future holds!”

Yoga instructor Constance Stone offers a way to get away from day to day stressors.

“We’re living in such a fast-paced environment that demands so much. With my yoga class, and passion as a teacher, I aim to give an escape from all that, even if it’s just for an hour, so people feel like they can let go and just breath, comfortable, at peace and refreshed when they leave.”
