Man arrested in connection with shot fired in alley

McCOOK, Neb. -- A 19-year-old McCook man was taken into custody after allegedly firing a gun at someone in an alley July 13.

Hunter J. Koetter, 19, was jailed in connection with the incident.

According to the McCook Police Department, a report was received at 6:59 a.m. Saturday, July 13, that someone had shot a gun at individuals in the 800 block of the alley between East Second and Third.

Officers responded, learned that only a single gunshot was involved, and identified a suspect who had fled the area before they arrived.

Meanwhile, dispatchers received two additional calls from citizens north of McCook, who reported seeing the suspect, and Red Willow County sheriff’s officers helped take the suspect into custody without incident at 9:03 a.m. that same day just north of McCook.

Two juvenile females and two adult males were reportedly in the alley at the time of the shooting.

The incident remains under investigation, according to the McCook Police Department.
