Omaha honoring Indians for softball season

OMAHA, Neb. — Four McCook Community College softball players have been named to the Omaha World-Herald’s all JUCO team including three sophomores and a freshman.

Sophomore outfielders Jerusha Miner (Gunnison Valley, Utah) and Chanel Siebenthal (Lakewood, Colo.) were named to the team along with sophomore pitcher Shae Muggridge (Perth, Western Australia) and utility player Brooklyn Jensen (West Valley City, Utah).

Sophomore infielders Emily Charchuk (Victoria, British Columbia) and Isabel Serna (Roy, Utah) were named honorable mention.

This is the second straight year for both Miner and Siebenthal to be selected to the World-Herald’s all-Nebraska JUCO team.

Miner, a 5-10 center fielder from Gunnison Valley High School in Utah, played in 61 games batting .380 with 20 doubles, six triples, five home runs, 55 RBIs, 51 runs scored and 25 stolen bases. She topped the region with six triples and 205 at bats.

Siebenthal a 5-9 outfielder from Lakewood Colorado’s Green Mountain High School, led the Lady Indians with a .401 batting average in 62 games, she led Region IX with 26 doubles, had two home runs, 34 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases. She had a .437 on-base percentage and slugged .559.

Muggridge, a 5-7 lefthander from Darling Range Sport College, played just one season at MCC having transferred from Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland. She appeared in a team-leading 34 games in the circle, starting 25 and going 13-14 with 145 strikeouts.Her three shutouts led Region IX and she was second in games started (25) and complete games (15) as well as strikeouts and strikeouts per game 6.35).

Jensen, of Hunter High School in Utah, led the region with 44 stolen bases. In 54 games played as catcher and infielder, she batted .397 with 38 runs scored and a .435 on-base percentage.

As a catcher, she threw out nine runners trying to steal which was the second most in the region. She held base stealers to a 37.5 success rate, which was third best in the region.
