McCOOK, Neb. — McCook's First Central Bank Juniors were leading Broken Bow, 6-1, in game two of a doubleheader Wednesday night when the umpires decided enough was enough.

They called the game and both departed quickly following some disputed calls. One McCook run was erased on an appeal where the ump ruled a FCB runner missed third base.

Another close play at first inspired some comments while prompting the home plate ump to say this game was done as McCook batted in the fourth. At least one coach attempted to talk more with both officials as they left the diamond, but neither hesitated their departure.

Umpires continued their departure and no comments were stopping them Wednesday night.

The teams decided this would be no game and FCB's Gamechanger account currently calls it "suspended." McCook FCB did win the first game, 11-3, and evened its season record at 9-9.

More details about the victory will appear in Friday's Gazette.

  • Great job by the guys in blue, it’s about time officials take a stand and say “enough is enough “, we see the stories in the news all over the world where officials are abused and berated because of the calls they have to make. It’s a game folks, move forward.
