Pinnacle Bank rallies to win league, go 17-1

LEXINGTON, Neb. — McCook’s Pinnacle Bank Legion team erased a 3-0 deficit and edged Lexington, 5-4, for the league title Tuesday night.

The 14-and-under squad finished a 17-1 season with one of their best comebacks.

They trailed 3-0 until Carter Larson and Lucas Gomez-Wilson singled to start a four-run fourth inning.

Keynan Gaston also drew a walk to load the bases with no outs.

Coleton Lentz’s grounder scored Larson before Jacob Gomez-Wilson doubled home both Lucas and Gaston for a 3-3 tie.

Kolyn Gaston crushed another double and Jacob Gomez-Wilson raced home to put Pinnacle Bank in front, 4-3.

Lexington caught the McCook boys, 4-4, only to see Larson’s walk start another decisive rally.

Peyton Dellevoet courtesy ran this time. He clamly moved to third on walks to Keynan Gaston and Lucas Gomez-Wilson.

With two outs, Dellevoet turned on his speed and scored on a passed ball making it 5-4.

Adam Dugger then struck out two of the final three Lex batters which clinched Pinnacle’s championship. Alex Anthony, Taylor Jacobs and Garrett Kaps also contributed to the win.
