Holdrege fights off McCook Cats, 13-11

McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook SCNBL Cats 14U lost the lead late in a 13-11 defeat to Holdrege on Wednesday evening.

The game was tied at 11 with Holdrege batting in the top of the fourth when an error scored one run for Holdrege.

SCNBL Cats 14U collected six hits and Holdrege had three in the high-scoring affair.

SCNBL Cats 14U scored eight runs in the third inning.

SCNBL Cats 14U’s big inning was driven by singles by Colton Sedlacek and Parker, a walk by David Beasley, an error on a ball put in play by Alex Messinge nd a double from Kobe Jackson.

Trey Weaver pitched Holdrege to victory. He allowed six hits and 11 runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

Ashton Parker took the loss for SCNBL Cats 14U.

He allowed one hit and three runs over one inning, striking out two.

Sedlacek led SCNBL Cats 14U with two hits in two at bats.

Sedlacek, Parker and Jackson drove home a team-leading thre runs for the McCook Cats.

Amazingly, nine players would round the bases and all scored runs for the McCook Cats who still slipped to 0-6 this season.

Nathaniel Miller and Layton Carpenter tallied two runs each to lead the McCook Cats’ attack.
