Cemetery tour
Monday, June 3, 2019
Gabe Sehnhert presents a talk on Wiley Matthews, who served three years as a bugler in the Fifth Illinois Cavalry, later going on to be a Lincoln County Commissioner, but was buried in Riverview Cemetery as commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, members of the McCook GAR serving as pallbearers. Sunday’s cemetery tour, which wrapped up this year’s Buffalo Commons Festival activities, concentrated on Civil War veterans buried in McCook.
