OBERIN, Kan. — Alyce Margaret Avery, 94, of Oberlin, died May 8, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society of Decatur County in Oberlin.

She was born in Red Willow County, Neb., to Andrew E. and Chloe Marie (Johnston) Anderson on Jan. 1, 1925. She attended elementary school in Red Willow County and graduated from Decatur County High School in 1942.

She married Roderick Keith Avery on March 21, 1943, in Oberlin. She was the office manager at Decatur County Hospital.

She was a member of the United Church of Oberlin, and the Oberlin Chapter 106 of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rod; step-father, Jesse Drake; brother, Jimmy E. Anderson; and sisters, Amy Rehm and Marylu Brown.

Survivors include her children, Rolland Avery of Seattle, Wash., Barry Avery and wife, Heather of North Granby, Conn., and Rozanne, currently of Oberlin; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 10 a.m., at the Oberlin City Cemetery.
