IMPERIAL, Neb. — Janice Kay (Scott) Kurth was born Oct. 3, 1945, in Oberlin, Kan., to Goldie Ola and Clara Elizabeth (Allacher) Scott. Janice grew up in Oberlin and attended Decatur Community High School.

On July 15, 1963, Janice married Robert Wurm in Oberlin, and to this union one son was born, John. Janice moved to Imperial in 1981, and later married Arvin Kurth on April 19, 1999. The couple made their home in Imperial until Arvin’s passing in 2005.

Janice was employed as a waitress at Jack’s Place, Enders Golf Course, Eagles Club, and numerous other businesses. Janice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial, Imperial Eagles Club and VFW of Imperial.

Janice enjoyed playing cards at the VFW, Eagles Club and Enders Golf Course. She loved collecting John Wayne memorabilia and anything relating to wolves. She also enjoyed watching westerns and game shows on TV. Janice loved to be around people; family and friends were always her first priorities. She was generous to a fault – always taking cookies, brownies or other snacks to people and groups. Janice was a very hard worker and she trained generations of waitresses. Janice was always there for anyone who needed something, but she never took any crap from anybody and gave as good as she got.

Janice passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center, Kearney, Neb, She was 73 years of age.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Goldie and Clara Scott; two infant sisters, Pearl and Betty; spouses, Robert Wurm and Arvin Kurth; brothers, Gene and Dwayne; sister, Ina Marie (Sis) Goodnight; and infant grandson, Travis.

Survivors include son, John Miller and wife, Roxane of Imperial; nine grandchildren, Satin Stoutz, Paige Miller, Chloe Miller, Todd, Thomas, Trevor, Wade, Colton and Collin Courter; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Fringer of Oberlin, Linda Weber and husband, Dick of Oberlin and Judy Scott of Ridgeland, S.C.; brothers, Dennis Scott and wife, Geneva of Lubbock, Texas and Ronald Scott and wife, Chris of Washington, Kan.; four step-children, Lana Oltmans, Dennis Kurth, Allen Kurth and Troy Kurth; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews and a multitude of other family and friends.

Memorial services for Janice Kurth will be Friday morning, May 10, 2019, 10:30 a.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church of Imperial, with Pastor David Kahle officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.

A memorial has been suggested to the John Miller Family in Janice’s memory.
