COZAD, Neb. — Consider McCook ran two of Class B’s four fastest recorded 100 meters on Saturday — and those weren’t even part of the Bison point team total!

That’s how dominant the McCook boys were again while winning a Southwest Conference team title with 180 points.

The Bison won eight events as seniors Seth Dugger, Morgan Fawver, Gabe Sehnert and power thrower DJ Gross all took home two titles.

Gross remains No. 1 among all Class B shot putters while senior Morgan Fawver leads the long jump this spring.

Senior Colin Giron didn’t win any titles on Saturday, yet he’s No. 3 in both shot and discus where Gross (163’4”) is currently No. 2 behind Scottbluff’s Tanner Scow.

Yet perhaps McCook’s most impressive effort didn’t even appear among the final results on Saturday.

During race prelims, junior Corban Jernigan blazed 100 meters to a time of 10.9 — second behind only Seward’s Davon Bess (10.88) among Class B this spring.

Senior Alec Bunger was also zooming through this race and finished in 10.94 seconds.

Only Bess, Jernigan and Scottsbluff star Christopher Busby (10.9) have ran faster than Bunger all spring.

Both those times have earned ALL-CLASS t op 10 spots where Class A Kearney Bearcat Miko Maeesner holds the fastest time of 10.6.

The speed-demon duo cooled a little as they ran Saturday’s finals. However, Jernigan (11.44) and Bunger (14.5) still joined Fawver (11.1) as three of the fastest four SWC sprinters.

Fawver’s 11.1 represents his career-best time. The Bison dominated other events especially shot put where Gross. Giron and Torrington Ford finished 1-2-3. All top six placers:
