McCOOK, Neb. — Let me set the scene for you….a college play set in England in the late 1940s, in the library of the famous Walloman family. With three generations living under one roof the matriarch Lavinia, (Kim Johnson)- Archibald Wallomen-Lavinia’s son ( Will Babbit) and daughter Elvira (Mary Kain)

Along with Archibald’s second wife Agatha (Lindi Johnson), is one of the best murder mysteries I’ve seen in a long time. Of course with this well to do family we introduce the maid Miss Pimms (Beth Hoyt) who keeps the whole family up in a roar.

When Agatha decides to write another of her murder mystery stories-the whole family becomes involved unknowingly. This sets the stage for laughter, confusion and jaw dropping dialogue that makes you grateful this isn’t your kin.

To help with the story Miss Mary Mead (Emily Karr) a local PI along with Henry Dethering the policeman and Hercules Grey-Cells the 2nd PI ( Luis Guardo) help to solve the mystery. To help with the confusion Sap (Ryan Wilson) joined the cast as he wanted pointers on how to solve crimes.

The entire cast was incredibly witty, energetic, believable and very convincing as I watched the play evolve with each character. I was personally drawn into the story line as the rhythm of the play is magical yet mysterious.

The set was perfectly done by Rachel Gordine, Rick and Kim Johnson, Luis Guardado, Jim Pleanis, the Agatha Cast and NYATG students.

The 1940”s costumes were coordinated by Pam Messersmith, stage and prop manager by Jeri Lynn Karr, with Darrin Karr as tech engineer on lights and sound.

Directed by Rachel Gordine with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the New York Film Academy and Assistant Director is Jeri Lynn Karr. They have done an excellent job in the unexpected death of instructor Clay Grizzel. Each character of the play is built on one another and have accomplished an amazing presentation. Mr Grizzel would be very pleased and proud to see what he has taught-be put to use with courage and confidence.

I strongly urge the community to take advantage of this well performed play this week as performances will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Weeth Theather in Timpton Hall at the college. Suggested free will donation at the door and I encourage you to be generous.
