Brazilian colors for the Big Red

Friday, April 19, 2019

The University of Nebraska Cornhusker volleyball team will play the Colorado State Rams on the McCook Community College campus Saturday on a floor used in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and installed this morning in MCC's Graff Events Center. Jennifer Morgan, Graff center events coordinator, said the floor was offered to the Huskers for a showcase floor; it has made its way across the country to various colleges and then it will be retired. The floor — in Brazilian team colors — is four layers of high-density foam designed for superior cushioning of knees, ankles and jumps, and to prevent floor burns, Jennifer said. Doors open Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and the games start at 1 p.m. Jennifer said she's expecting 1,500 in the bleachers and seats, in addition to 500 or so staff members and media.
