Trojans triumph at Med Valley meet

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — The Cambridge Trojans ready did feel right at home while winning Monday’s Medicine Valley Track-Field Invite.

All events were moved to Cambridge from McCook after weather forced a Friday postponement.

Coach Jimmy Blex’s boys responded with numerous titles and high places en route to 146 team points.

Distance runners Zack Sickels (1600 meters) and Derek Trompke (3200) both finished first.

Kyle Borland captured a shot put championship and Quintin Shaner won the long jump.

The Trojans added two relay victories to outdistance top contender Wauneta-Palisade (117 points) in this seven-team showdown.

Ben Anderjaska won both the 400 and 800 meters for those runner-up Broncos.

Austin Rozelle sprinted to a 100-meter victory with Caid Doetker topping all 110-high hurdlers.

Rozelle also won the long jump. Senior Dennis Cavanaugh delivered a discus victory.

McCook’s JV boys placed third overall as Talyn Campbell soared to first in the pole vault.
