City of McCook crews clear a very heavy, wet snow off streets early this morning; most crews started between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m., Kyle Potthoff, director of public works, said. Equipment tackling the snow included two salt trucks and truck/plows, three loaders, a maintainer and several pickup/plows; various crews cleared city sidewalks. Potthoff said not all neighborhood streets were plowed because clearing the snow off exposed just the ice. Typically, he said, these early spring/late winter-like snows are wet and melt quickly because the ground is warm. Potthoff said he appreciates the cooperation of residents as big equipment maneuvers the city streets.
