Allan Nordhausen

March 12, 1942 - Feb. 23, 2019

WAUNETA, Neb. — Allan LeRoy Nordhausen was born March 12, 1942, in Imperial, Neb., to Dietrich Fritz and Ora Minnie Sophia (Denker) Nordhausen. As a young man, Allan attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Parochial School and Wauneta Public Schools. He was inducted into the U.S. Army where he served for a short time because of an illness of his father.

On Sept. 29, 1963, Allan, (Cotton as he was known), married Judith Arlene Binderup at the United Methodist Church in McCook, Neb. The couple moved to the family farm south of Wauneta, Nebraska, where they raised their family. Cotton was a lifetime farmer/rancher and he and Judi lived on the family farm until they retired from farming in 2001 and moved to the Frenchman Creek east of Wauneta.

Cotton was a member of 4-H, the Wauneta Jaycees and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Wauneta. He enjoyed team roping, fishing with his children and grandchildren, reading westerns, shooting the bull with anyone he met (he didn’t know a stranger), and anything to do with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cotton passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at his home in rural Wauneta. He was 76 years of age.

Cotton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gary and Loren Nordhausen; and sister-in-law, Karen Hartman.

Survivors include his wife, Judi of Wauneta; sons, Heath Nordhausen of Wauneta and Chad Nordhausen and wife, Sunni, of Wauneta; daughter, Kirsten Boos of Wauneta; nine grandchildren, Danielle (Jess) Vapenik, Dustin (Alisha) Nordhausen, Stormy and Rainy Nordhausen, Tayler, Lanee and Evan Nordhausen, and Tucker and Zoey Boos; five great-grandchildren, Timothy Nordhausen, Ryker Nordhausen, Avery and Ella Vapenik and Baby Nordhausen; sister-in-law, Sue Nordhausen of Liberty Hill, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends, and all the kids he was “grandpa” to.

A memorial has been suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Memorial services will be Friday morning, March 1, 2019, 10:30 a.m. (MT) at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of rural Wauneta, with Pastor Keith Wellman officiating.
