Chase girls win in playoffs, area boys set

SUTHERLAND, Neb. — The Chase County girls beat Hershey, 55-44, to start C-1-11 subdistrict basketball action Wednesday night.

Junior Mallie McNair’s 20 points, six steals and four assists fueld the 13-9 Longhorns’ victory.

McNair made all five of her free throws.

Senior Taylor Williams added nine points followed by classmate Sophie Spady (seven) and junior Sophie Spady (five points).

The Longhorns broke from a 13-13 tie to lead 30-21 entering halftime.

Now the Chase girls take on top-seed Ogallala (18-6 record) in tonight’s title game. Opening tip is 7 p.m. at Sutherland.
