CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Yordi, Yordi, Yordi, that Arapahoe Warrior has been one tough senior to stop for anyone who’s faced him on a basketball floor this season.

So when Yordi Gutierrez launched a final potential winning corner shot, Cambridge fans held their breath while both players and coaches realized one fact:

Those Arapahoe Warriors are really tough.

“Nothing comes easy against team,” Trojans coach Jimmy Blex confirmed.

The last shot soared but fell a little short as Cambridge could finally enjoy its 58-56 overtime win.

“We’d get ahead six or eight points, but they (Arapahoe) would come right back at us,” Blex observed on his post-game radio interview.

Indeed.

The Warriors (8-14) rallied not once, not twice, but three times from six-point deficits during that second half.

Gutierrez totaled a game-high 24 points.

They finally caught Cambridge at 51-51 when senior Carson Schroeder hit a tying shot with 15 seconds remaining.

Cambridge (11-9) still worked through OT thanks to junior Paxton Ross and senior Preston Carbaugh finishing 19-point performances.

Ross drove into tie the score again, 54-54, then Deryk Huxoll’s free throw put those Trojans ahead to stay.

Blex also praised players like Spencer Rice.

“Spencer played fantastic tonight,” Blex concluded. “I thought it was the best game he’s ever played.”

TROJANS (58) — Preston Carbaugh 19 points, Paxton Ross 19, Spencer Rice 5, Kyle Eubanks 5, Zion Moyer 4, Kyle Borland 3. WARRIORS (56) — Yordi Gutierrez 24 points, Gentry Anderson 11, Nolan Meyers 9, Carson Schroeder 8, Tristan Abraham 2, Conner Luke 2.
