Cambridge knocks off 20-0 NP St. Pat's

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Cambridge resumed its magic on North Platte St Pat’s home floor with a 52-40 upset of the mighty Irish girls Saturday night.

The Trojans (13-6 record) took charge when they allowed only two second-quarter points to those 20-1 host Irish.

Junior Korynn Clason delivered 24 points of her own for Cambridge, and senior Rylee Cross hit six of six free throws to help clinch this amazing Cambridge road win.

Cross (eight points), Chloe Craig (six), Autumn Deterding (four), Schyler Hoberty (three), Cali Gunderson (three), Jenna Ebbers (two) and Chloe Craig (two) all delivered huge clutch shots.

The Trojans also knocked off North Platte St. Pat’s two years ago, then beat them again en route to their most recent state tournament appearance.

Chloe Craig and Clare Craig pulled down six rebounds apiece to help Cambridge keep control.

The Trojans started fast, scoring 18 points in those opening eight minutes.

Defense took over while the advantage reached 24-17 at halftime and 36-25 through three periods.

Cambridge returns home to play Arapahoe Tuesday evening.

ARAPAHOE, Neb. — The Hitchcock County Falcons didn’t have a letdown following their tough Friday night win over Maywood-Hayes Center.

Instead, they built a 26-6 halftime lead which reached 46-15 entering the final quarter.

No individual stats were obtained for the 16-3 Falcons.

Junior Terri Hilker’s six points paced 6-15 Arapahoe in this Saturday afternoon contest.

Senior Mariah Watson added five and battled to get a team-high 13 rebounds.

No other Warrior tallied more than two points.

Panthers

HERSHEY, Neb. — A 19-1 fourth quarter put the final touches on Hershey’s 50-28 triumph over Dundy County-Stratton Saturday night.

The Tigers suffered only their second loss in 20 games this season.

Hershey improved to 14-5 overall.

Senior Adalene Krutsinger’s eight points paced DC-S while post partner Grace Federick added six.

Sophomore McKinzie Baney scored another five for the 18-2 Tigers.

Roughriders 14

BARTLEY, Neb. — DC-S dominated on Friday, taking a 38-8 lead into halftime Friday night.

Sophomore Maggie Lutz’s 15 points fueled this Tiger victory with Krutsinger adding 11, Frederick eight and junior Jessie Freeland eight more points on three-for-three shooting.

Baney (six points) and junior Sable Lambley (five) helped hold the Roughriders to just two points during two consecutive quarters.

Seniors Nicole Dewey (eight points, six rebounds), Ashley Bennett (four) and freshman Bailey Oltmer (two) completed the SW scoring.

Senior Cierra Cleents secured five rebounds as Southwest slipped to 1-16 overall.

Vikings

top Raiders

BERTRAND, Neb. — Medicine Valley led 15-12 through one quarter but a 22-2 second period ignited Bertrand’s 65-41 win Friday night.

The Raiders (4-14) — featuring just six players — had earned a home win over Wauneta-Palisade one night earlier.

No individual stats were obtained from Saturday’s contest.

Broncos recover

WAUNETA, Neb. — Wauneta-Palisade shook off a loss at Med Valley and beat Sutherland 49-31 Friday evening.

Senior Monique gooden (13 points), soph Haylee Sandman (13) and junior Michaela Dukes (11) led the 6-12 Broncos.

Sandman added a team-high 11 rebounds.

Longhorns lose

IMPERIAL, Neb. — TJunior Mallie McNair scored 17 points to pace 11-8 Chase County in a 61-39 loss as North Platte St. Pat’s reached 20-0 for the season.
