COLUMBUS, Neb. — McCook’s varsity girls could be a dangerous No. 5 seed entering the six-team Greater Nebraska Activities Conference tournament on Thursday.

The Bison (3-5 record) will meet No. 2-seed Scottsbluff (4-4) at 7:15 p.m. in Columbus High’s main gymnasium.

“I like how we match up against Scottsbluff,” Bison coach Amy Scheil said.

The Bearcats have scored three recent wins over Alliance (47-45), Chadron (47-34) and Natrona County, Wyo., (60-45) during these past 10 days.

The other GNAC openiers on Thursday match No. 3 Hastings vs. No. 4 Gering at 3:45 p.m. and No. 1 North Platte vs. No. 6 Columbus at 5:30 p.m. Semifinals are Friday with the title game at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday
