Huskers' 2019 foes add hope

Freshman Maurice Washington had a season-best receiving yards effort for Nebraska against Iowa.

A few quick thoughts from your foggy sports scribbler who kept himself extremely busy watching four full days of football last weekend:

Never pick Michigan with Jim Harbaugh against Urban Meyer’s Ohio State Buckeyes ever again.

Never ever never ever.

The No. 1 scoring defense gives up 62 points in a game to determine its Big Ten and national title shot? Unbelievable.

My new Top 10 teams:

1. Alabama

2. Clemson

3. Notre Dame

4. Georgia

5. Ohio State

6. Oklahoma

7. Central Florida

8. Michigan

9. Washington

10. Texas

Yes, if Alabama beats Georgia as most expect Saturday and Ohio State knocks off Northwestern, the Buckeyes should be playoff-bound again.

They’re just more complete than Oklahoma, who seemingly allows 40-plus points every weekend.

As far as the Huskers, their 2019 slate should deliver coach Scott Frost’s first Nebraska road win. Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota and Purdue had better not lead to 0-5 again.

Wisconsin, Iowa and Northwestern all winnable games. Early prediciton: 4-8 goes to 8-4.
