BRADY, Neb. — Chase County will play for a C1-11 subdistrict volleyball title after Monday’s thrilling five-set semifinal win over the Hershey Panthers.

Hershey brought a 21-11 record into the tourney but couldn’t stop No. 3-seed Chase County (17-13 record).

The Longhorns conquered a 30-28 marathon fourth set then dominated that decisive fifth finale, 15-5.

They’ll now take on N. 1-seed Ogallala to determine who plays in Saturday’s district finals round.

Southern Valley (19-13 record) was aiming at a third consecutive staet tournament spot.

The Eagles swept Maxwell 25-16, 25-16, 25-23 to start their C-2 subdistrict tourney Monday night.

However, this strong field at Cozad field included No. 2 South Loup who delivered a 25-21, 25-12, 25-17 semifinal victory over the Eagles.

Coach Jessi Thalheim’s team was playing without injured leading hitter Lauryn Samuelson.

Meanwhile, Arapahoe finished a 3-23 season Monday night with its 25-19, 25-16, 25-9 subdistrict loss to the Elwood Pirates.

Senior Chloe Carlson crushed six kills and classmate Joslyn North knocked down five in their final high school volleyball matches.

Junior Hannah Utterback added 10 digs for Arapahoe.
