Northeastern edges Indian spikers in five

STERLING, Colo. - The McCook Community College volleyball team dropped a five-set decision at Northeastern Junior College Tuesday, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 16-25, 8-16.

MCC falls to 14-9 on the year and 0-6 in the south division of the Region IX conference this fall.

Freshman Faith Simpson (Wauneta-Palisade) led MCC with 15 kills. Sophomore Ryan Maddera (Colorado Springs) had 13 and sophomore Haley Jacobsen (Littleton, Colo.) had seven kills.

The Lady Indians to travel to Garden City, Kan., on Thursday. MCC beat Garden City CC on Sept. 11 in a three-set home sweep.

Next week, MCC wraps up its six-game road streak in Cheyenne, Wyo. Oct. 9 to take on Laramie County Community College.

MCC’s next home match is Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. against Trinidad State.
