McCook spikers finish tough Scottsbluff tourney

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — The McCook High Bison swept Scottsbluff to highlight a challenging weekend in Scottsbluff’s annual volleyball tournament.

“We went 1-5 against some really good competition,” coach Audrey Feeney said while offering these additional comments.

“It was nice to get a win over Scottsbluff. Charity Malleck and Robin Grigg played some phenomenal defense and led the team in the back row. Bree Janousek, Robin Grigg, and Tiara Matson served well all weekend.

Our hitters all stepped up in different games and our setters spread the ball around well, giving everyone an opportunity to hit.

We had a lot of people come in off of the bench and do some good things that we can build on, and we are ready for a less busy week this week so we can work on fixing some fundamental skills.”

McCook (6-12 overall) swept Scottsbluff 26-24, 25-8 behind senior Jaceea Hanson’s 12 kills, four ace from sophomore Bree Janousek and senior Kassidy Michaelis making 14 digs to go with 17 assists.

Freshman Peyton Doucet drilled another five kills past the host Bearcats.
