Arapahoe spikers score first two wins

CURTIS, Neb. — The Arapahoe Warriors swept through Thursday’s Medicine Valley Triangular to earn their first two volleyball wins in fine style Thursday evening.

Arapahoe (2-14) scored two dramatic 25-23, 25-23 victories over the host Raiders behind a balanced attack.

Senior Joslyn North drilled five kills when she wasn’t delivering a team-high 11 assists.

Junior Hannah Utterback and senior Mariah Watson smashed four kills apiece while Utterback also served four clutch aces.

Junior Terri Hilker added seven digs as the Warriors (1-14) celebrated their first victory this season.

However, they were cheering No. 2 just a little later with 25-19, 25-21 victories against the Paxton Tigers.

Utterback’s six kills powered the Warriors again though senior Chloe Carlson crushed another five.

North knocked down four and served three aces along with 10 assists.

Junior Caitlin McCorkle’s 17 serve receives were another reason why the Arapahoe attack continued rolling.

The Warriors (2-14 record) now take momentum into a home match Tuesday night vs. Axtell’s Wildcats.

Medicine Valley (4-7 record) did score a 25-19, 25-20 triumph over Paxton to finish second in the home triangular. The Raiders host Brady Tuesday evening.
