Younger Bison best North Platte in OT

McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Junior High eighth-graders edged North Platte, 16-14, in overtime of their football game at Weiland Field Thursday afternoon.

McCook prevailed thanks to the late passing attack.

First, Adam Dugger fired a 10-yard pass that Garrett Kaps took into the end zone.

Now tied 14-14, the Bison celebrated victory on Jacob Gomez-Wilson’s two-point pass to Lucas Gomez-Wilson.

McCook earlier scored an incredible 97-yard fumble return from Jacob Gomez-Wilson.

Dugger found Lucas Gomez-Wilson with another two-point pass, but North Platte and forced OT tied at 8-8.

The Bison are now 2-0 and visit North Platte for a rematch on Sept. 25.

Thursday’s “B quarter” contest would actually end in an 8-8 deadlock.

Weston Walgren rumbled 35 yards for the Bison TD.

Payton Dellevoet found Ean Beavers with an ensuing two-point conversion pass.
