MCC golfers second at Wyoming invite
TORRINGTON, Wyo. -- The McCook Community College golf team sits in second place by eight shots after the first round of the Eastern Wyoming Tournament. Play continues Friday.
MCC shot a 298 with the Lancers paving the way with a 290. Central Wyoming is a distant third 21 shots back of the Indians.
“We played well today but still gave away a ton of strokes on the greens,” MCC Coach Tyler Loop said.
Sophomore Ronnie Quick (London, England) is tied for the lead with Eastern Wyoming’s Mason Hale. Both shot rounds of 71 Thursday.
Sophomore Cameron Lampe (Windsor, Colo.) had a 74. Freshman Chesney Tatman (North Platte) shot a 75; Freshman KC Carlson (Delta, Colo.) a 78, Freshman Gabe Vielma (McCook) an 81; and Trevor Oberg (McCook) played as an individual and shot an 81.
“We’re still in it but will definitely need to putt better,” Loop said.
