CUSTER, S. D. — It is with great sadness that the family of Russell Lynn Miracle announces his passing on Aug. 24, 2018, in Custer at the age of 70.

Russ was born on Aug. 22, 1948, in Cincinnati Ohio, to Hubert and Jean (Kutz) Miracle. He grew up in Cambridge, Neb., and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1966. He then went on to graduate from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, as a civil engineer.

He worked many years in flood control and water resource management in the state of Nebraska and later in the state of Arizona. He retired from the Maricopa County Flood Control. He truly loved his work, and through it, was able to help countless people.

Russ was a very dedicated provider, for his family, throughout his lifetime. He shared with his family a love for great food and cooking, and was always talking about trying new recipes. His unique sense of humor, and insight, will be greatly missed. In his retirement years, he renewed a passion for fishing and the outdoors during his trips to Nebraska.

Russ is survived by his wife, Marty (Grgich) Miracle; sister, Gloria (Miracle) and husband, Dale Cotton; his children, Jeff Miracle and wife, Jessica, Scott Miracle and wife, Susan, Kathy Miracle, and Tara Miracle; step-children, Drew Grgich and wife, Tracy, and Becky Henderson and husband, Kevin; numerous grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Jean Miracle, and the mother of his children, Glenda Jo (Moore) Miracle.

A memorial service will be at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., with Jim Jones officiating. Inurnment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge.
