SV Eagles slow down Roughriders

BARTLEY, Neb. ó Southern Valley rallied through the first two sets then finished a 25-22, 25-14, 25-19 victory over host Southwest Thursday evening.

The Eagles (4-2 record) showed focus and confidence of two-time defending district champions.

Southwest (1-7 record) brought a strong attack into the home match. The Roughriders took several leads through set one but Southern Valley finished strong.

Set two featured another early home-team lead, but those Eagles recovered for their most dominant win of this match.

Southern Valley continues to thrive behind junior leader Lauryn Samuelson. According to the latest stats, Samuelson tops in both kills with 53 and 14 ace blocks.

Libero Sawyer Quinn showed the great effort thatís led to her 88 digs.

Setter Grace Hogeland now has 62 assists on the season.

Senior Nicole Dewey continues to lead Southwest (52 kills) along with Jadyn Brooks (76 assists, 15 ace serves).
