MCC spikers drop pair on road

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Lady Indian volleyball team dropped two matches in Arkansas City Saturday. In the first match Cowley Community College swept the Indians 3-0 while Johnson County downed MCC 3-1 in the second match.

Cowley won 25-21, 25-20, 25-16.

“We never really could get a good run going our way,” MCC Coach Hayley Kobza said.

Sophomore Ryan Maddera (Greeley, Colo.) led MCC with nine kills. Freshman Faith Simpson (Wauneta-Palisade) added eight kills.

Johnson County came out in the second match with a 25-19 win before the Lady Indians won their only set on the afternoon 25-23. The Cavilers closed out the set 25-20, 28-26.

Simpson led MCC with 17 kills and Maddera added 15. Hannah Emerson (Greeley, Colo.) had eight kills and Ty Johnson (Conroe, Texas) seven.

The Lady Indians, 3-4 on the season (all games on the road) travel to Beatrice Tuesday for a game against Southeast Community College and play Wednesday at Columbus against Central Community College.

The first game in the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m.
