Raiders romp 58-15 in season debut

WALLACE, Neb. — Medicine Valley’s Raiders stormed to seven rushing touchdowns and a 58-15 domination of the Wallace Wildcats in Friday’s football season opener.

The Raiders (1-0 record) picked up where they left off last year as they went 11-1 and reached a Class D-1 state semfinal.

They scored 22 first-quarter points and tallied another 22 to lead 44-7 by halftime Friday night.

New rusher Reid Stout, a senior, gained 106 yards on just 11 carries with a team-high three TDs.

Freshman Lane Lenz stepped into a key role and gained another 76 yards on 14 carries.

Lenz scored one touchdown to match sophomore Hadley Johnson (five carries, 32 yards), senior Dylan Davis-Mack (five carries, 21 yards) and junior Luis Zuniga (two carries, three yards).

Quarterback Sam Heapy added another 56 yards on nine carries for a 314-yard Raider ground attack.

Heapy gave the Raiders some balance with three pass completions in five attempts which covered 57 yards.

Sophomore Kade Bonini completed two of his three throws.

Lenz led the receivers with three caches and 37 yards. Junior Quade Potter made a 25-yard grab.

Stout’s six solo tackles also topped the strong Raider defense. Davis-Mack made five total tackes including three solos.

Bonini picked off a Wallace pass for one Raider takeaway.

Medicine Valley moves on to host Elwood Friday night.
