McCook, Trojan golfers tee off season Thursday

Wednesday, August 15, 2018

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — The foundation begins for McCook High’s girls golf team this season with a triangular at Cambridge Thursday afternoon.

“It’s a rebuilding year with the next couple of years definitely looking up,” second-year Bison head coach Joel Arterburn said.

McCook graduated all of its recent state qualiifers from last year’s team.

Juniors Hannah Goltl, Brooke Stewart, Hannah Nichols and sophomore Kaylie Puckett are among the Bison players leading McCook leading into 2018. They’ll compete with Cambridge and Lexington starting at 4 p.m.

Goltl played the Grand Island Northwest varsity invite last year while Arterburn expects Puckett “will be able to help early in the year.”

Stewart and Nichols are both first-year prep players who should be able to “do some things that help the team as the year goes on.”

More details about the McCook and Cambridge golfers will appear in upcoming editions of the Gazette.
