McCOOK, Neb. — Summer interns Sage Williams and Emily Frenzen and members of the board of directors of the Museum of the High Plains in McCook plan a "Night at the Museum," Thursday, Aug. 2, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

The open house will give the public a sneak peek at the interns' visions for new exhibits designed to highlight some of the more significant aspects of the history of McCook, Red Willow County and Southwest Nebraska. During their internship, Emily and Sage were particularly impressed with U.S. Senator George Norris; McCook's four state governors — Brooks, Morrison, Nelson and Heineman; the impact of the railroad; the contributions of Harry Strunk; and the history of the Carnegie Library.

Join the interns, directors and living history characters for museum tours, snacks and music. Sage and Emily issue the invitation, "Come as you can, leave when you must."

Emily and Sage are University of Nebraska students who interned in McCook this summer participating in the Rural Future Institute student serviceship program.
