McCOOK, Neb. — Monday’s most dramatic question:

Would McCook National Bank score enough runs to match its 25 days since the last home game?

That was about all on a three-inning night that visiting Minden could not escape fast enough.

The MNB Seniors scored seven first-inning runs, then plated another 13 for a 20-0 lead through two.

Winning pitcher Trae Koetter then finished his shutout by starting a nifty 1-6-3 double play.

Koetter fielded the last ground, fired his final strike to shortstop Clayton Stevens and an ensuing throw ended in first baseman DJ Gross’ glove.

Game over.

The Seniors are now 15-9 and perhaps gaining moment for B-6 area tournament time.

Stevens ripped three hits, scored three runs and drove home another four.

Seth Dugger added three more runs including an early steal of home plate.

Dugger later drove home his 18th and 19th RBIs to match Kaleb Taylor for team-high honors.

Taylor didn’t disappoint the home fans as he tripled and also scored two more times.

Cameryn Berry’s three singles moved his Seniors-high batting average to .471 this season. He now has 17 RBIs from the leadoff position.

Every MNB starter would reacquaint themselves with rounding the Jaycees Complex at least once in live game action.

Now they’ll immediately hit the road again for tonight’s big West Division title game against the Gothenburg Melons.

“They (the Melons) are a much improved team,” MNB coaches said during a radio interview Monday morning.
