OBERLIN, Kan. ó Jack E. Fortin, 89, of Oberlin, died Wednesday (June 27, 2018), at Decatur Health in Oberlin.
He was born March 31, 1929, to Everett and Rose (Ingrum) Fortin in Dresden, Kan. He married Mildred May on Sept. 16, 1960, in Oberlin. He was a heavy equipment operator and worked for Boultinghouse Construction and Decatur County Highway Department. He and his wife moved to Denver, Colo., where Jack worked in construction and after retiring, returned to Oberlin.
He was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Rose Fortin; wife, Mildred Fortin; son, Charles Fortin; brother, Gayle Dee Fortin; and two sisters, Betty Blakley and Phyllis Loyd.
Survivors include son, Everett E. Fortin of Spokane, Wash.; brother, Galen ďLeeĒ Fortin of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Lorraine Green of Bandon, Ore.; and other family members.
Visitation is Sunday, July 1, 2018, 1 to 8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin.
Services are Monday, July 2, 2018, 11 a.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Bradley Rick officiating. Burial will follow in St. Johnís Cemetery, rural Oberlin.
