Road repairs set to begin south of Benkelman

McCOOK, Neb. ó Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin June 18, on US-34 south of Benkelman, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Vontz Paving Inc., of Hastings, Nebraska has the $3,967,884 contract. Work will include milling, asphalt overlay, and guardrail installation. The project will begin at the US-34 and N-61 junction, south of Benkelman, and continue west US-34 for 11 miles. The project will include multi-layer epoxy polymer overlays for two bridges along US-34/N-61, south of Benkelman. Traffic will be maintained using lane closures with flaggers and pilot vehicles.

The Departmentís project manager is Matthew Park of McCook. Motorists are asked to drive cautiously through construction zones and to expect delays.
