Cubs, Phils rally for Felling victories

McCOOK, Neb. — Thursday’s game against the Sports Shoppe Cubs was a heartbreaker for Royals, as they lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat.

The game was tied at one with the Sports Shoppe Cubs batting in the top of the fourth when Kollin Werkmeister homered on a 1-1 count, scoring three runs.

The Royals fired up the offense in the first inning. Canyon Hosick hit a solo homer.

In the top of the third inning, the Sports Shoppe Cubs tied things up at one. Dylan Knight drove in one when he singled.

Werkmeister was on the mound for the Sports Shoppe CubsLandon Kmoch was on the pitcher’s mound for the Royals.

He surrendered four runs on six hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out 11 and walking one.

Hosick threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Hosick led the Royals with three hits in three at bats, three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.

Mitchel Cole went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Sports Shoppe Cubs in hits.

The Sports Shoppe Cubs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cole had the most chances in the field with 11.

Grand slam

The High Plains Podiatry Orioles lost the lead late in a 13-9 defeat to the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Phillies on Thursday.

The game was tied 9-9 with the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Phillies batting in the top of the fifth when Quentin Terry hit a grand-slam home run to plate four runs.

The High Plains Podiatry Orioles knotted the game up at nine in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Terry threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for the High Plains Podiatry Orioles.

The High Plains Podiatry Orioles put up three runs in the second inning. Nathaniel Miller and Kaleb Feikert each had RBIs in the frame.

The Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Phillies scored six runs in the fourth inning. Terry and DeAndre Berry all drove in runs in the frame.

Cole Graham was on the mound for the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Phillies.

Grant Cappel was on the hill for the High Plains Podiatry Orioles. He lasted three innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out seven.

The Orioles collected nine hits on the day. Cappel, Miller, and Feikert each collected multiple hits for the High Plains Podiatry Orioles. Miller and Cappel all had three hits to lead the High Plains Podiatry Orioles.

The High Plains Podiatry Orioles tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Cappel led the way with five.

The Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Phillies racked up eight hits. Terry, Berry, and Aries Stewart each racked up multiple hits for the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Phillies.

Terry led the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home Phillies with three hits in four at bats.
