Theodore William Blythman

SUPERIOR, Neb. — Theodore William Blythman, the son of James and Ellen (Henry) Blythman, was born on March 3, 1950, in Ann Arbor, Mich. He passed away on May 21, 2018, at the Superior Good Samaritan Society, Nebraska at the age of 68 years, 2 months, 18 days.

Ted worked a variety of jobs throughout his life. He worked in various restaurants as a cook and prep-cook. He worked on a farm for a farmer. He worked as a custodian in various places including the Nebraska State Capitol building. He worked as a security guard at the Nebraska State Fair when it was in Lincoln. His last job was working at the McCook Gazette in McCook, Neb.

Ted was a member of the Eagles Club in McCook for many years. He held every office during his time as an Eagle. Ted loved to volunteer at Hillcrest Nursing Home at McCook and when he moved to Superior, he volunteered at the Superior Good Samaritan Society, Kingswood Court, and helped with church services at those facilities and also at the Victorian Legacy Assisted Living in Superior. Ted also enjoyed square dancing while living in McCook.

Ted enjoyed putting models together and took art classes at McCook Community College and entered projects in the Red Willow County Fair open class. Ted enjoyed traveling. He very much enjoyed seeing his sister, Penny and husband, Tom, while they were living in New Mexico and seeing the sights with them, including the annual balloon festival. Ted enjoyed trips to Branson, Mo., Eureka Springs, Ark., Bentonville, Ark., and Dodge City, Kan. He also loved to go see Christmas lights in various communities during the holiday season. Ted owned his own Santa suit and loved to be Santa at the annual Mid-Nebraska Christmas party sponsored by Living Faith Fellowship Church. He also enjoyed working at Candy Cane Lane in Superior, dressing up as Santa, greeting everyone and handing out candy canes. Ted also enjoyed performing with puppets at the nursing homes and singing in the church and community choir. Ted enjoyed cooking and baking. He cooked pancakes, scrambled eggs, and all kinds of breakfast items for breakfast fellowship on Sunday mornings at McCook Harvest Church.

Ted was a member of McCook Harvest Church and later, when he moved to Superior, he was a member of Living Faith Fellowship Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Blythman.

Survivors include his sister, Penny Curry and husband, Tom of Rio Rancho, N.M., and half-brother, Carl Stone and wife, Rene of Lady Lake, Fla.; other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Living Faith Fellowship Church in Superior, Neb., with Rev. Jon Albrecht officiating.
