Indian golfers rolling to nationals

RIVERTON, Wyo. – The McCook Community College golfers shot a field-best 299 Friday to win the Region IX golf title over Eastern Wyoming by one shot.

The Indians entered the second day one shot back of the Lancers – 306-307 but came up three better on Friday to claim the Region IX championship.

“What a tight finish, they definitely never gave up,” MCC Coach Tyler Loop said. “Nationals here we come!”

Individually, freshman Cameron Lampe (Windsor, Colo.) and sophomore Brady Rogers (Ord, Neb.) finished as first-team all-conference with Lampe winning the tiebreaker for first overall in the conference.

Sophomore Colton Zolkoski (Ord, Neb) finished just outside second team.

“All these guys had a great spring,” Loop said.

On Friday, Rogers had the low score for the Indians with a 72 for a two-day total of 147.

Zolkoski had a round of 73 on Friday and finished with a two-day score of 150 and Lampe shot a 78 and a total of 155.

Sophomore Kaleb Wonderly (Benkelman) shot a 76 Friday for a 155 total and freshman Graham Gaspard (Breckenridge, Colo.) shot an 80 for a total of 158.

McCook Community College 307-299 - 606; Eastern Wyoming College 306-302 - 608; Central Wyoming College 314-305 - 619; Lamar Community College 316-324 - 640; Northeast Junior College 323-328 - 651; Otero Junior College 316-328 - 652;.

The final MCC scores:

Cameron Lampe 77-78 - 155

Brady Rogers 75-72 - 147

Colton Zulkoski 77-73 - 150

Graham Gaspard 78-80 - 158

Kaleb Wonderly 79-76 - 155.
