McCOOK, Neb. — McCook coach Rick Haney provided these remarks from the Gothenburg Golf Invitational on Thursday.

“Today, the Bison competed in the Gothenburg invite at Wild Horse Golf Course. All in all, we had a decent day. Trevor Oberg continued to have a solid play by scoring an 81 to finish in 16th place.

Given the competition and great players in this tournament he did another stellar job with his decision making and shots. Following him was Brady Esch and Gabe Vielma who scored 83’s which was a decent score for this difficult course.

Tanner Unger improved today by lowering his score to a season low with an 84. Tanner is one who is improving weekly. His 84 was good and I know he has his sights to even go lower over the next weeks. Hunter Hays rounded out the varsity with an 87. Hunter had some issues getting off the tee but did a nice job of recovering given the position he found himself in off the tee.

The team finished tied for fourth by scoring an 331. North Platte continued to show their power by winning with a very nice score of 295. Following them was Scottsbluff with a 323, Right behind them was Cozad who had a nice day with a 329. McCook Tied for fourth with Broken Bow at an 331.

In this meet we were able to see nine of our 12 teams in our district meet.”
