Work set to begin on US 83, BNSF viaduct soon
McCOOK, Neb. — Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin April 30 on US-83 at the BNSF Viaduct in McCook, Reference Post 14.16 to Reference Post 14.42, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Bridges Inc., of Newton, Kan., has the $1,378,430 contract. Work includes bridge repair, sidewalk repair, asphalt overlay and pavement markings.
Traffic will be reduced to a 10-foot lane restriction in each direction.
It is anticipated that the contractor could have the sidewalk closed for up to 48 hours during the construction.
The department and contractor will keep the public informed as to when this will occur. The project is anticipated to be completed by late October 2018.
The Department’s project manager is Seth Vlieger of McCook. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously through construction zones and should expect delays.
