Mary Lea (Crocker) Herrmann

July 28, 1947 - March 31, 2018

CLAWSON, Mich. — Mary Lea (Crocker) Herrmann, a resident of Clawson for 50 years, died March 31, 2018, at the age of 70 years. Mary Lea was born July 28, 1947 in McCook, Neb., to Leo Kenneth and Gladys Louise (Grafel) Crocker.

Mary Lea was a 1964 graduate of Red Willow High School in McCook, Nebraska and attended Central Michigan University. She had a successful career for more than 20 years in various financial roles at the National Bank of Royal Oak, Michigan. After leaving the bank, Mary Lea joined Central Michigan University where she worked as the Business Services Coordinator, facilitating and securing new locations for extended degree learning until her retirement in 2013. Mary Lea was a member of the Clawson Jaycee’s and Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Troy, Michigan.

On Dec. 26, 1966, Mary Lea married the love of her life, Michael, at St. Patrick’s Church in McCook, Neb.

She is survived by her husband, Michael, and daughters, Marsha (James) Champion and Melissa Herrmann; three grandchildren, Aidan, Morgan and Hannah. Mary Lea is also survived by her siblings, Shirley Ele, Thomas (Charlotte) Crocker, Deborah (Joseph) Blackmore and Ronald (Lisa) Crocker. It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t mention her “other grandson,” Brody Champion, the golden retriever she loved so much.

Mary Lea loved BIG. She loved her family fiercely. She loved everyone without limits. She loved to make everyone around her feel like a million dollars, because that’s what you were to her. She loved to celebrate others every time the opportunity presented itself. She demonstrated her love through cooking and sharing her garden. She loved to brag about everyone she was so proud of. She loved her career and gave 1000 percent. She loved sharing, listening, and hearing stories, and she would reflect on them for years. She loved her Huskers, Chips, Spartans, Wolverines, and especially her Catholic Central Cougars.

Mary Lea was as special as they get. Her imprint is stamped with love on everything she touched, and our hearts are crying because she will be missed greatly.

Funeral Mass was April 9, 2018, at Christ Our Light Church, 3077 Glouchester Troy, Michigan.

Burial followed at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan.
